Sleaford Wheelers Celebrate 60 Years in Style

Sleaford Wheelers Cycling Club marked a major milestone this year with a fantastic celebration fun day to honour its 60th anniversary.

The event took place on Saturday 28th June at Sleaford Rugby Club and was hailed a resounding success, attracting over 150 attendees. Club members, families, and supporters came together to enjoy a day packed with activities, club history, and heartfelt reunions.

Among the crowd were 50 former members, including riders who attended the club’s very first meeting six decades ago. Cyclists from the 1960s and 70s through to the present day shared memories, laughs, and stories of years gone by.

“I spent time talking to some of our former members and hearing their stories. It was clear how proud they were to see the club thriving. Their appreciation meant a lot.”
– Rob Frisby, Club Chairman

Rob also thanked everyone involved in making the day a success:

“To see toddlers trying balance bikes for the first time, through to 90-year-olds chatting about the good old days – the day couldn’t have gone better.”

Rides to Remember

The celebrations began with three well-attended morning rides: a 60km route, a 60-mile loop, and a 60-minute spin. All rides started and finished at the rugby club, bringing members together in the saddle to kick off the day.

Fun for All Ages

The afternoon brought fun and games for all. Go-Ride Sleaford Wheelers organised a packed schedule of family-friendly activities, including an off-road TT/CX race, an obstacle course, and cycling challenges.

Focus Rides provided jump ramps and an inflatable air bag, which quickly became the star attraction. Both children and adults queued up for their chance to launch themselves into the air, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

“The jump bag was a great success – from our youngest Go-Riders to long-standing members like Chris Close, everyone got stuck in!”
– Sally Cragg, Club Welfare Officer & Go-Ride Secretary

As the club pedals confidently into its next chapter, this milestone celebration served as a powerful reminder of just how far Sleaford Wheelers has come—and how much excitement still lies ahead.
