Sunday Club Rides

The backbone of all clubs... Sunday Club Rides!
Our Sunday Club Rides cater to a wide range of cycling abilities and preferences, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Each ride offers a chance to enjoy the beautiful countryside, improve fitness, and share the camaraderie of group cycling. A cafe stop is a standard feature of all our Sunday club rides, providing an opportunity to rest, refuel, and socialise.

Club Rides start from Sleaford Marketplace, every Sunday and leave at 09:15 sharp. Arrive a little early to get sorted, pick your group and meet your fellow riders.

Below is an outline of our ride categories:

Leisure Ride

A relaxed, gentle social ride ideal for those new to group road cycling or riders who enjoy a steady pace. Perfect for individuals who already cycle regularly on their own or with a few friends and want to experience the benefits of group rides. The group goes at the pace of the slowest rider and regroups when necessary.

  • Pace: Average 12 mph

  • Distance: Typically 20 to 25 miles

  • Terrain: Generally easy, though some hills may be encountered

Sleaford Wheelers Social Ride

Social Ride

This ride offers a slightly faster and more challenging experience than the Leisure Ride. It’s ideal for riders with a reasonable level of fitness and some group riding experience who want to push themselves a little further. Routes may include hillier sections.

  • Pace: 14+ mph

  • Distance: 30+ miles

  • Terrain: Varied, with potential hills

Sleaford Wheelers Ladies Social

Social + Ride

Designed for experienced riders who enjoy a more sporting social ride. This ride includes opportunities to tackle challenging hills and harder efforts, with regular regrouping to ensure a social aspect remains. Suitable for fitter cyclists who are comfortable riding in a group.

  • Pace: 16+ mph

  • Distance: 50+ miles

  • Terrain: Often includes challenging hills

Club Ride

Our fastest-paced ride, tailored for experienced and fitter riders, including regular racers and sportive participants. This ride is excellent training for charity rides, sportives, or entry-level racing. While we aim to stay together and regroup after intense efforts, participants should be self-reliant and prepared to ride solo if unable to maintain the group’s pace.

  • Pace: 18+ mph

  • Distance: Approximately 60 miles

  • Terrain: Varied, with intense efforts and challenging sections

Important Information for All Riders

We’re thrilled to welcome cyclists of all ages and abilities to join our club rides — whether you're a seasoned rider or just starting out, there’s a place for you in the Wheelers peloton!

If you're under 18, we’d love to see you out on the road with us. For insurance purposes, we do require a completed parental consent form from a parent or guardian before you can take part.

For our younger riders under the age of 13, you’ll need to be accompanied on the ride by your parent or guardian, in addition to providing the consent form.

Safety first!
Wearing a helmet is mandatory on all Sleaford Wheelers club rides — no exceptions. And during the winter months (October to March), mudguards are compulsory to keep everyone clean, comfortable, and happy out on the road.

If you’ve got any questions or you're unsure what to bring, don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re always happy to help new riders feel confident and prepared.

See you on the next ride!

New Riders

You're welcome to try our club rides for a couple of weeks to see if they suit you. After that, we ask that you join SWCC as a member.

If it’s your first time riding with us, please get in touch beforehand to chat about your experience, your bike, and what you’re looking for — we’ll help match you with the right ride and let you know what to expect.
