Sleaford Wheelers are once again lining up for a serious endurance challenge with the second edition of the Giant Lincoln–Tugby Sportive, the longest sportive in the organisers’ calendar and a true test of stamina and resilience.
Starting from the stunning setting of Doddington Hall, just south-west of Lincoln, the route heads out along fast, flat Lincolnshire lanes towards Newark, passing the historic castle before rolling into the scenic Vale of Belvoir. A well-stocked first feed station provides the perfect chance to refuel before the terrain begins to change.
From the vale, riders tackle a series of short, sharp climbs as the route makes its way into East Leicestershire and on to the halfway point at Giant Tugby, home of the much-loved Café Ventoux, where a second feed stop awaits. After refuelling, the return leg delivers more of the area’s trademark “lumps and bumps”, crossing back through the Vale of Belvoir on different roads and passing Belvoir Castle before reaching the third feed station of the day.
The final leg brings riders home on quiet, picturesque lanes through Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, finishing back at Doddington Hall. A finisher’s medal, hot food and drink, and a chance to relax make for a well-earned reward after a big day in the saddle.
For those not quite ready for the full 200 km challenge, a 115 km option is available. This route follows the outward leg to the first feed station before rejoining the return route after a rest and refuel, offering a more accessible but still rewarding ride on predominantly flat roads.
