Founded in the 1930s, the modern club was established in 1965. The club began as a small group of passionate riders who shared a love of the open road, the camaraderie of group cycling, and a dedication to promoting the sport. Over the decades, Sleaford Wheelers has grown into one of the region's most respected cycling clubs, embracing cyclists of all ages and abilities.

In its formative years, Sleaford Wheelers was the hub for local cycling enthusiasts eager to test their endurance on rural roads. Time trials and friendly races were at the heart of the club’s activities, and the competitive spirit of those early members laid the groundwork for the club’s long-standing commitment to excellence.

1970s, 1980s, 1990s

As cycling surged in popularity, so too did the club. The 1970's, 1980's and 1990's saw a growing membership and an expanded calendar of events, including road races, social rides, and youth training. The club also began to develop its inclusive ethos, ensuring riders of all skill levels felt welcome and supported.

2000s , 2010s & 2020s

Today, Sleaford Wheelers is more than just a club—it’s a community. With over 160 members and a calendar boasting 100+ events a year, we continue to build on our proud legacy. Our members compete in prestigious races, organise family-friendly events like Go-Ride, and actively promote cycling in Lincolnshire. We are as committed to nurturing young talent as we are to supporting seasoned racers and recreational riders.
