Sleaford Wheelers Newsletter September 2026
Sleaford Wheelers Photo
We would like as many people as possible to attend our Photo shoot on Sunday 13th September at 09:00 outside the SHD premises on Pride Pkwy in Sleaford. The Club rides will start from there after the photo has been taken.
Committee Positions
We are still asking for volunteers to be our Treasurer and a male Welfare Office. Please let Rob or me know if you are interested in these roles.
Welfare Officer
As a CWO you will need: a DBS Check completed via British Cycling; to complete the Safe Wheel safeguarding course, provided by British Cycling; to ensure that your DBS and safeguarding training is renewed every 3 years. The full terms of reference for this role are located here: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/zuvvi/media/bc_files/coaching/2019/CWO_Role_Description_Mara_Moujaes_1.pdf
Treasurer
This is a key role in keeping the Club running effectively. The role requires a commitment of approximately 5 hours per month; knowledge of on-line banking and MS Excel is an advantage. Typical duties are reviewing monthly incomings and outgoings, paying bills and preparing the accounts for external auditing.
AGM
This year’s AGM will take place on Monday 16th November at Silk Willoughby Village Hall commencing at 19:30. If you would like to add an item for discussion, then please let me know.
Track Days
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the September Track Day session due to low numbers. Currently we are still planning to run the other dates, but we do need more numbers to make them worthwhile. The bikes and shoes are provided, and you get the chance to be trained by our very own Phil Harrison, someone who competes at a National Level; good luck at the Nationals Phil!
Jet Ride
A final reminder that this year is the last planned Jet Ride so it would be great to see the Wheelers well represented and don’t forget that any member that enters can claim £5 back from the Club on proof of payment.
Cyclo-cross
The Cyclo-cross season starts again and SWCC are hosting the event on 27th September. Rich Howes will be requesting volunteers to help set out the course and marshal on the day. 2
