The mid-week racing season continues with the TLI Ashby Road Race, taking place on Wednesday 22 April. This is part of the TLI evening road race series and is a great opportunity for local riders to get some proper bunch racing in early in the season.
The race is run on the quiet roads around our Ashby Loop, a circuit-based course with multiple laps to make up the race distance. Evening road races like this tend to be fast and tactical, with plenty of attacks and regrouping as riders try to force a winning move.
For anyone who hasn’t raced before, the TLI events are known for being friendly and accessible, making them a good entry point into road racing while still offering a competitive field.
Even if you’re not racing, it’s well worth coming along to watch and support the riders. Circuit races mean the bunch passes regularly, so you get to see plenty of the action.
If you’re thinking about giving road racing a go this year, this is a great event to start with. Speak to other club members who have raced before if you’re unsure about what’s involved.
