Are you considering taking up cycling?
It is one of the best ways of keeping fit and certainly gets you out and about! Why not come along to one of our Novice runs They start at the same time as the main club run, 9:00am market place. It is a much steadier shorter ride. Check on events page or Facebook or our Strava page for details of where the run is likely to go.

Or try one of our Time Trial events and give it a go! Signing on at The Horseshoes Silk Willoughby

All of our regular evening time trial events (see events pages) are designated "Come and Try" you can have up to 2 drop in rides and if you enjoy it and want to continue you will then need to join the club.

Novice Rides - Rough Guide
Intended as an introduction to Club Cycling this is a social ride which will typically consist of a 90 to 120 min ride possibly with a local cafe stop.
Typically rides average 10 - 13mph and cover 20 - 30 miles. No-one will be "dropped"
The pace and duration of the ride varies depending on the mix of riders with faster loops put in to entertain progressing riders as required whilst the main ride continues at a social pace.
Typical cafe stops are Belton Garden Centre, Ruskington Garden Centre, Sylv's Heckington, Navenby Cafe, Roman Cafe A52.
If you are new to riding and not sure about your fitness the ride leader will be happy to discuss this with you (we were all beginners once so don't be shy) and doing so will enable them to plan the ride accordingly and / or to give advice regarding training to reach this level.

CTC Membership/Insurance
We are now affiliated to the CTC and can offer Wheelers members Individual Membership of the CTC for just £16:00 One of the main advantages of this membership is good third party insurance, which in today’s claim culture environment is something of a must have. As far as I understand it, it covers you for individual, social, club and Time Trial rides. Do you need it (click here)
To access this membership you would need to sign up Here (click) and put our “Affiliate Club Code” in the appropriate box. To get this code email secretary@sleafordwheelers.co.uk and it will be forwarded on to you.

Cycle Recovery

The Wheelers have signed the Club up to a cycle recovery scheme, which is set up to get you and your bike back should you suffer a breakdown (UK) that can’t be fixed, I know many of you travel far and wide on bikes so for £15:00 per year it seems like a good deal to me. When signing up you will need to link yourself to Sleaford Wheelers.
I have attached a flyer here for your info and if you have any questions they were pretty good on the phone.
