As 2015 is SWCC’s Golden Anniversary we would like to mark the year by reclaiming the Lincolnshire Road Riding Association Nev Crane Points Trophy, I think we last won it in 2011.
To win this trophy clubs are awarded points for every rider who enters an LRRA event, more points for riding the event and points for being placed in the event. Therefore the club that wins it is usually the one with the most riders entered.

Some of you may not be aware that although there has been a Sleaford cycling club in some form or another since May 1879, Sleaford Wheelers as we know it was re-formed in 1965. That makes this year our Golden Anniversary. With that in mind we would like to make this year’s Presentation Evening a really special celebration, not just of the achievements of our club members over the last year but of the Club in General.
The Presentation Evening on Saturday 28th February 2015 will be at the Legionnaire’s Club, Southgate, Sleaford and will be in two parts:
The first (more formal) part of the evening will include a carvery meal and the presentation of prizes. This will start at 6:30 for 7:00pm and will cost £15:00 per head. Then from 8:30 onwards there will be a disco. There is no charge for the second part of the evening although the organisers would need to have the names of those arriving for this part of the event beforehand, as the Legionnaires is a private club.
We would like to invite all members, past and present along with their friends and family to both parts of this event. Please pass this invitation on to any past members or friends you may still be in contact with.
As we hope for quite a good turnout it might be wise to book ASAP, the numbers are not limited at the moment but might be later on.

On Easter Saturday April the 4th Doug Laidlow is running the Charity 10mile time trial in aid of Cancer Research, this is one of the biggest events in the county with many riders from different clubs taking part. We would like as many Sleaford Wheelers as we can. Entries close on the 24th of March. Entry forms and full details here
We last held this trophy in 2011, so it is about time it was restored to its natural home. To win the trophy we need as many riders as possible to enter and ride LRRA events this season. Every entry and ride gains points for the club.
There are 2 LRRA events on the horizon:
The LRRA 25 mile time trial, on the 29th March, closing date 17th March. Entry forms and full details can be found on the website.
Our own 18 mile 2-Up time trial, on the 18th of April, closing date 7th April. We should get a good entry for this event. If you don’t have a riding partner then please let Richard or I know and we should be able to match you with a rider of a similar standard.
And finally club events:
The Early 10 is on the next Sunday 15th March and the 7 League starts on Thursday the 2nd April. (10 League on the 16th April)

Sleaford Wheelers Charity 10 mile Time Trial.
It is to be hoped that featuring in the events that you plan to ride in 2015 will be the Sleaford Wheelers CC (Charity) 10 mile Time Trial.
This popular event has regularly attracted in excess of 100 riders. In fact for the last two years it has received a record entry of 108. It would be great if it continues that way.
Seasonal prizes donated by club members and all proceeds after necessary expenses go to Cancer Research.UK. Over £1000 has been passed too this deserved Charity in each of the past two years and a lot more too in the years since it was taken on board.
The popular C10/10 course uses the single carriageway A15 between Quarrington and Osbournby and posts a course record of 20:30 set in 2012 by Jim Coleman.
This event is on Saturday April 4th and has Internet Entry via the Cycling Time Trial website. If posting then entries on a CTT Entry Form along with the Entry Fee of £8. (Cheques should be made payable to D. Laidlow) sent to:

The Sleaford Wheelers CC Nev Crane Memorial 25 mile TT.
The date is19 th July. Since this popular event first appeared on the Calendar it has been the richest and best supported TT in Lincs DC. It is now in its 9th year and it is hoped that another fine entry will happen.
Usually the event exceeds 100 riders with last years entry at 111, it has seen as many as 115 on board. In 2014 Matt Bottrill lowered his course and event record for the single carriageway C25/35 course to 49:53. The 3rd quickest ride ever in the District. Two of which were recorded in the National in 2013 when Matt was 2nd in 49:33.
Once again the event offers around £900 in prize awards with £200 being Ring Fenced just for the ladies.
I hope that I have aroused some interest. This event is also the Club Championship ‘25’.
This event also requires assistance in the way of marshals so if you do not intend to ride, it would be appreciated if you would offer your services to Doug who can be contacted from the details below.
